This year is an exciting year for the Brisbane City Pops Orchestra as we reach our 50th anniversary! Our first concert in 2023 is a musical celebration of the beautiful world we live in – What a Wonderful World.
Our diverse program features light classics, latin rhythms, your favourite musicals, popular opera and timeless melodies. We present A Satchmo Medley of his classic pieces, including, wouldn’t you know, What a Wonderful World. Feel the excitement of the popular Slavonic Dance No 8 by Dvorak, and the playful Dance of the Tumblers by Rimsky-Korsakov. Relax to the beautiful, Autumn Leaves by the Hungarian composer, Joseph Kosma. Remember great Broadway hits, with Broadway Tonight, as well as visit the melodies of Jerome Kern and the music of the show, Oliver!
We welcome back popular baritone, Daniel Smerdon, who will entertain us with song, as well as a cello solo! What a talent! Our conductor is the very popular Andrew Robinson. Join the BCPO for a memorable afternoon that celebrates What a Wonderful World.
