The grass is officially greener at the Kenmore Scout Group, with the unveiling of their new turf on the parade ground at the start of November.
Joined by President of Scouts Queensland, Jane Prentice, Chief Commissioner of Scouts Queensland, Daryl Scott, Kenmore Scout Group Leader Annie Ross, Stuart Stoddart from Rotary Club of Kenmore, and Terry O’Shea from Centenary Landscaping, Dr Christian Rowan MP, the State Member for Moggill, officially unveiled the new-look parade ground during a special scouts ceremony.
Before unveiling the new turf, Dr Rowan paid tribute to the significant community spirit and cooperation that enabled the upgraded facilities.
“As a former scout myself, I know that first and foremost, scouting is about joining with others, forming a community, and through skills and leadership development, working for the betterment of our community.
“Today’s ceremony is evidence of this philosophy, where, thanks the to terrific partnership between the Kenmore Scouts, the Rotary Club of Kenmore, and Centenary Landscaping, our community has come together to ensure these facilities will serve our young scouts of Kenmore not just for today, but well into the future.
“On behalf of our community, thank you again to the Rotary Club of Kenmore not only for their contribution towards upgrading the parade ground, but for their ongoing support of Kenmore Scouts and other community groups and projects in our local area.” Dr Rowan said.
Following the new turf unveiling, the Kenmore Scout Group also showcased its renewed campfire circle, with Chief Commissioner Scott unveiling a special, memorial plaque to commemorate the memory and service of the Club’s beloved Cub Scout Leader, the late Mr John (Baloo) Sawtelle.
