Dr Christian Rowan MP, the State Member for Moggill, is calling on all local residents to get behind a renewed push to Buy Local and Support Small Business, as the unfolding public health crisis continues to pose significant impacts for the economy and local jobs.
During a recent West Brisbane Business Association networking event last month at Kenmore’s Method to the Madness Café, Dr Rowan joined local small business owners and managers from across the Western Suburbs of Brisbane to promote the importance of continuing to buy local.
“Small businesses are at the very heart of our community, and anything we can do to support our local economy; be it between shoppers and business, or from business to business, has to be encouraged.
“As the local LNP State Member for Moggill, I see first-hand the crucial role small business plays in not just providing goods and services to our local community, but the associated positive outcomes that come from such endeavours as hiring and training local employees, sponsoring community events, or even providing support to our local schools.”
Dr Rowan said that with the fast-changing economic circumstances, crucial support from the Palaszczuk Labor Government was needed.
“Queensland is one of the only states that hasn’t announced a substantial stimulus package to protect local jobs.
“The Liberal National Party has called for payroll tax exemptions, fast-tracking infrastructure, speeding up payments to government supplies and freezing electricity and car registration.” Dr Rowan said.
Chair of the West Brisbane Business Association, David Letizia, thanked Dr Rowan for his ongoing support and backed calls encourage greater local shopping.
“Christian has attended several events and has been a fantastic supporter of businesses and members of the West Brisbane Business Association”
“Now more than ever we need to trade locally if possible, and we are looking for all levels of government to support the small business community.”
